If you are a new driver or new to Canada, you need to get a G1 licence first. Here's the link to find out more: https://drivetest.ca/licences/drivers-licences-cars/
If you had a driver's licence from another country and it was not expired when you got your G1, you may not have to wait one year to book your driving test. If you had a driver's licence and a letter of authentication from another country and they were not expired when you took your G1, you may have an option to book a G2 test or a G test. In this case, you are only given one chance to pass the G test, if you failed, you can only book for G2 for your next attempt. However, you can book your G test immediately after passing your G2 test.
You can still book your driving test as long as your licence is not expired. After passing your G2, you have to pay for the renewal of your licence because they will have to extend it for another five years so that you can take your G after a year or so.
